Sara started Little Gym again!

Yesterday was the first day of Little Gym for Sara. We took the summer ‘off’ and boy was she excited to go back yesterday! Mr. Chad, her teacher, remembered her from the Spring semester and she ran right up to him and gave him a high five. She walked on the beam, did her somersaults without help and learned how to do a “jump swing” onto the bar. Of course the highlight of the class was bubbles at the end! She’s already talking about the next class. :)

Family in South Florida

Ugh. This has been a HORRIBLE hurricane season! Hurricane Frances is screaming towards Florida and Eric’s parents are in Ft. Lauderdale. I’m watching The Weather Channel and I keep checking the NOAA website for updates. Broward county has enstated an evacuation but we don’t yet know what Eric’s parents have decided to do. We want them up here with us. Say your prayers!!

It’s Official….

I’ve become a Soccer Mom! The minivan has a permanent place in our driveway now. It’s extremely comfy – much smoother than the “trucky” feel of the Explorer. The color is “Magnesium”…..a gorgeous blue-green color and the interior is a dark grey leather. Hope that new car smell will last a little longer….not looking forward to the the juice-Cheerio-sticky-car smell. ;)

Somthing I never thought I’d do….

…or even be excited about for that matter. A minivan. Yep, you read that right. We’re getting a minivan. I’m gonna be a Soccer Mom. Who’d have thought?! :) We’re currently testing out a Chrysler Town & Country Limited. It rocks. It’s roomy, comfy, quiet and it’s loaded. Sara can’t wait to go to Gramma’s house so she can watch a DVD in it. I love how the seats all fold down flat into the floor and the best part is being able to take people with us instead of always having to take 2 cars everywhere. Hopefully we’ll have it by the weekend!

Florida

Just got back from a week in beautiful South Florida. We had amazing weather and a good visit with Eric’s parents, brother, sister-in-law and their 2 kids. We hadn’t seen Joe, Marie and the kids for several years since they are currently living in Europe. Sara was thrilled to meet her 2 cousins. They’re considerably older (9 & 10) but they were really patient and seemed to enjoy “playing” with her. Every morning Sara would wake up and the first thing out of her mouth was “Where’s my cousins?” The beach was great – water was amazing – not too cold and fairly calm. Sara loved sitting in her floatie while her cousins were on their boogie boards. We took some great pictures and hope to have some online soon. Now, it’s back to the grind here in NoVA. Bleech. ;)

Kenny Vs. Charley

Hurricane Charley thought it would be cool to see Kenny Chesney in concert too. Woke up to rain on the morning of the concert and it was getting progressively worse. Concert was cancelled (it was to be held in an amphitheatre in VA Beach) so I decided to get outta there and head home to beat the worst of the storm. I drove through rain at least 3/4 of the way home. Walked in the door and find out that the concert was rescheduled for the following night. Ugh. I wasn’t about to drive all the way back there in the rain so my Mom was going to take my ticket. Guess it’s good I wasn’t there – Mom & Beth had to park in a swamp, hike about a 1/2 mile in the rain and proceed to sit (in covered seats) in blowing rain. They said the show was really good but Charley sure screwed up the weather. There’s always next year!

I’m Flying!

So I’d heard about this website a couple different times and the other day one of my neighbors mentioned that she was doing it so I decided to give it a try. Now, don’t think our house is a sty, cause it’s NOT – there’s just clutter. This is what happens when 2 pack rats marry. I’ve been “flying” for 2 weeks now and I have to say that I have a huge feeling of accomplishment every single day. My kitchen sink is shiny, laundry is done, my “hot spots” are clean, and I’ve got 4 big bags of stuff to donate. Here’s the website: http://flylady.net/index.asp
